Internal Medicine - Texas Center for Medical & Surgical Weight Loss
Dr. Monica Anz-Cavazos is the medical director of Texas Center for Medical & Surgical Weight Loss. She has had extensive training in the field of bariatrics and works very closely with our surgeons to provide pre-operative and post-operative care to all of our patients. She follows patients closely after surgery to help them maximize their success and make sure their weight loss is done in a safe, healthy way.
Dr. Anz-Cavazos is an Internal Medicine physician who focuses her practice on
helping overweight, obese and morbidly obese patients lose weight and improve
their health. For patients not undergoing surgery, Dr. Anz-Cavazos utilizes many
methods in her approach, including nutrition, exercise, counseling, behavioral
therapy, and pharmacotherapy.
Dr. Anz-Cavazos is a native San Antonian. After graduating from Incarnate Word
High School, she studied Biology at the University of Dallas and graduated cum
laude in 1995. She received her medical degree from the University of Texas Health
Science Center at Houston in 1999. She then completed her Internal Medicine residency
at Exempla St. Joseph Hospital in Denver, Colorado. She is a board certified
physician with the American Board of Internal Medicine and is a member of the
American College of Physicians, American Society for Metabolic & Bariatric Surgery,
TMA, AMA, and the Obesity Action Coalition.
Dr. Anz-Cavazos is the proud mother of three daughters and is glad to be back in Texas practicing medicine in such a rewarding field.
